I think Monero being delisted by every major centralised exchange actually shows it has real economic value. You only censor what you are afraid of. I hope Bitcoin gets really good privacy tech one day so it gets delisted from exchanges.

zcash frequently complies with regulators and doesn't have good privacy by default (privacy is opt-in). Coupled with lower usage compared to monero, it results in a really low anonymity set. It's very centralized and they keep making deals with regulators, that's why zcash is getting back on exchanges it was previously delisted. Technically, zcash has better privacy since zaphir shields are superior to blinded signatures (used by monero). Monero can potentially upgrade to zcash's zaphir but that requires a hardfork.
I was reading Monero development roadmap and looks like there’s a long way to go still for them to reach “true privacy” but at least they have a clear vision. Bitcoin development has come to cross roads and the community has become quite divided on what so develop out next. Bitcoin ossifying too early has downsides that many don’t realise. Big fan of what the Monero devs are trying to do at least. I think the fact Zcash has optional transparency and privacy makes it weaker. Yes it’s more likely to get regulators approval. But the point of cryptocurrency is to not ask for approval in the first place.
The *privacy tech* that Zcash uses is better, and their researchers are great. But Zcash itself not so much... Bad implementation of the tech and design decisions: optional privacy, not fungible, no default IP privacy, trusted setup, dev tax on mining, centralized corporate entity, transitioning to PoS, etc. Bias source obviously, but much of this is true if you DYOR:

I know privacy is mentioned in the white paper, but i think it'sgreatestfunction is in being a public chain. Incredibly useful for when accountability is needed.

Zk actually encrypts data, monero uses obfuscation. Even bumping up to 100 decoys is not really private. But i do love monero as it is actually spent/ used as digital cash

Zcash fucked up by making shielded transactions optional. Most zcash usera dont use shielded
Not completely true. Amounts and addresses are encrypted on Monero. Completely hidden using CT and Stealth Addresses. Monero only uses obfuscation for sender privacy via ring sigs. Full-chain membership proofs will pretty much make this a non issue.
I have never partaken, but lately I keep wondering, given the constant controversy and animosity between the two BTC mixing systems (that I know of), if I wouldn't just be better off going through XMR on Bisq to get some privacy for my BTC too.
Yea it's very difficult trace if not impossible when done correctly...but you gotta be careful when going BTC -> XMR -> BTC -Allow some time to pass before the final swap back into BTC. Just say a day or two. (the longer the better) -Use different exchanges for each swap and change your VPN server or Tor identity each time -Break up your final swap into multiple chunks, and don't consolidate after ( i.e. Don't go 2.17 BTC -> XMR -> 2.17 BTC ) All this complexity is made worse by high fees going on with BTC, so it is pretty much impractical to do all the time. That's why I just find it much simpler and cheaper to directly spend my XMR where I can Fiat -> XMR -> spend XMR or Large chunk of BTC -> XMR -> spend XMR
