Iβm losing patience with bitcoin development. And itβs looking more likely the longer I follow the technical community that nothing is going to change/improve anytime soon. π’
I know how you feel π€
Amir taaki has a great interview with Rafael LaVerde where he breaks down each privacy protocol. Ideal is ZK with trustless setup (Halo 2)
A must watch
I believe dark fi will serve as a perfect compliment to Nostr. Not that they will be used together, but one for public, one for private. I am also fond of Qortal
DarkFi also recently announced they will be using POW randomx rather than POS. Also, another project i love, tho people fud the hell out of it, is Pirate Chain. A fork of Zcash with shielded transactions by default. Very fast transaction times.
Yea I read recently DarkFi is merge mining with Monero
very cool
I can't comment on Pirate Chain with any confidence. I don't have deep knowledge of it.
Definitely check out Pirate Chain, ZK SNARKS, trusted setup but it uses the sapling ceremony zcash used, which was thoroughly documented. It had an accelerated mine. Those are the two main fud, but it is the most private coin at this point, with the lafgest anonymity set, well in the millions and counting. Fast transactions, small blockchain size.
I'm definitely open to at least exploring other privacy coins
From the little research I did way back when I first looked into it, these were the things that made me skeptical about it and pushed me away (maybe you can tell me if some are false, no longer true, or lack context):
-Trusted setup
-Centralized dPoW notary nodes
-Proprietary Komodo dPoW
-Dev tax
-Centralized and targetable entity (The Pirate Chain Project)
-And honestly, not as important, but the whole pirate stuff seemed like a gimmick
Basically, in my view it was smaller Zcash, just with the optional privacy issue fixed (big difference but still many similar problems remained)
