There is a revisionist idea that Web 2.0 created walled gardens because (insert your least favourite thing) is evil, in reality walled gardens are just well scoped well aligned group of people with incentives to cooperate for the purpose of good experience. The only other sustainable form of interoperability are; 1. Open source Dictatorship (Linux, Git, etc..) 2. Standards committees plutocracy (even worse than #1) 3. Adversarial interoperability; where you reverse engineer your competitors formats to steal their edge (.PSD, etc..) #1 and #3 are the source of all the good things in the web. If you want to change thing about Nostr, just build the best app you want, capture as much of the user base as you can, and everyone will just follow you, and you will save yourself the drama. nostr:nevent1qvzqqqqqqypzp22rfmsktmgpk2rtan7zwu00zuzax5maq5dnsu5g3xxvqr2u3pd7qythwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnwdaehgu3wvfskuep0qyghwumn8ghj7mn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tcqyp5t6k4a7wfsvalehv044lntcdhvfdwazq8y9a2jyrevmv2gv7av6l0emsx

Yessss. And when building for a well-scoped group of people, the user base = that group of people. For me, that group of people is my family, my village, my farm-customers and fellow bible-researchers. I'm building for them and will capture them all, haha 🙃 . Momentum of wannabe-Twitter-liberty-cult doesn't really matter much. Signed JSON is just useful for my goal.

This is why I keep telling people; interop on the API of the servers and data hosts, then do whatever the fuck you want with data types, because you will never interop on more than the most basics, until someone dominates and everyone just mimic them. Your usecases could honestly be just as well supported by the Remote storage.io API instead of signed JSONs on relays, at least if you were ok with Web fingers instead of keys as identities... Same can be said about ActivityPub. Of course I have been saying so for so long, and unfortunately the thing that I built is evidently unappealing for most Devs for understandable reasons.
