I've been saying for a long time, the Amish are 95% of the way to adopting bitcoin. They're so so close... i think if they understood the virtuous nature of bitcoin (proof of work, transparency and truth, self sovereignty) they would see that it strengthens their community. The digital nature of it is a very tiny tiny fraction and can be run on a feature phone with no other outside internet access or additional features. Many amish already use phones this way with other amish specific apps. They could have their own Amish wallet or cashu mints run by elders. If we drop certain preconceived notions, we can see logically it makes sense for them!

Bingo! You are right on the money. It’s all about strengthening their community. Next time I’m picking up wood from them I will ask him if they’ve ever heard of bitcoin and what their preconceived notions are. Another element they would find valuable is instant and final settlement since they deal primarily in checks.
