Deutsche Bank has terminated the account of a UN accredited human rights activist. AML/CFT laws are routinely weaponized to silence dissent without any recourse or due process. It's the outsourcing of policing powers to private institutions without democratic oversight, where the presumption of innocence and right to fair trial do not exist. AML/CFT needs to be abolished today. image

I have read that such things happen, but this specific letter from the bank says nothing about it. Normally Deutsche Bank are so unscrupulous that they don’t care who has an account with them, from a serious criminal to an activist, as long as the account is well-funded. If this post is correct, pressure must be big..

Valuable lesson for a human rights activist. Ain’t it? Be your own bank. Use #soundMoney. Defund the fuckers.
In principle I agree with you, but that's not what I would take away from this news. "Certain" political opinions now imply de facto 'un-banking'. The only way out of this is Bitcoin.
That's a bullshit story. In Germany eveyone - by law - has the right to a checkings account, even when job- or homeless and banks have no leeway. We don't know what actually happened - he might have transferred money to a sanctioned entity or overdraft his account to many times or didn't pay his bills. It's just his claim of censorship by the bank. Data protection and privacy laws are pretty strong in Germany, why would a bank care about his political views and where would they get the information to it? Also, where is proof of his other claim? He provides a photo of a letter to the termination of his contract so why not provide the proof to his other claim? It's just to support his bs story and to make his case appear stronger. Seems all like artifical outrage. Register with Revolut and stop whining.
I quickly took a look at this and someone who was actively disagreeing with Safa said that the letter doesn't give a specific reason and that they don't have to. Do you have a link to anything supporting that specific institutions have to maintain your account or is it just that you have a general right to *an* account but not necessarily with this institution (i.e. you can't be entirely excluded from banking)? image
Well the mark of the beast won't work if you can just open another account somewhere else now will it? These people play with your fears and ancient ideas to perfect their balance of power...
