Palantir always up to no good. Also: "The palantíri played a dual role in Sauron's downfall during the War of the Ring. Aragorn used the Orthanc palantír to reveal himself as Isildur's heir, misleading Sauron into believing he had the One Ring. This distracted Sauron, prompting premature military actions and reducing his vigilance over Frodo's quest. Additionally, Sauron's manipulation of Saruman and Denethor through the palantíri backfired, as their corruption and despair weakened his allies and allowed critical resistance from Gondor and Rohan.
