when you read a book or talking to a friend, you are thinking non-linearly. You remember the beginning of the book or conversation while trying to think about what might happen next in the context of the current page.
when you scroll posts and images everything is linear and disconnected from prior events.
your brain's context window is only a few seconds when scrolling.

Exactly, also I would add in the dopamine factor, meaning having to rewire the brain to read more to get the feeling and even then having to control impulses to check phone
