The feds took over this land. Every land owner pays federal taxes. That sounds to me like the feds own the land. Because did you forget if you don't pay your land taxes, they come take your land away. It's the same thing in all these communities. Your little store. The real owner is the feds because they gave you a number for you to operate under

It's like sending the Afghan Army's ethnic Tajiks to Helmand and strengthening the insurgency. But we clearly didn't learn a single thing from that war and never will so whatever.

It certainly would have been better, but after many decades it never happened. The populations needing to be deported survived on federal grant programs. Removing that money source also would have been cleaner and better. That also never happened over many decades. Now, all the people who refused to do the better options are upset that it is being done the hard way.
