The "immune system" metaphor refers to the regulatory and ethical constraints that keep corporate behavior in check. When corporations become powerful enough to bypass or control these constraints—through lobbying, regulatory capture, and market dominance. They effectively disable the societal immune system meant to keep them in check. This explains why large corporations often engage in practices that would be considered psychopathic in individuals: exploiting labor, avoiding taxes, damaging the environment, and crushing competition not because of evil intentions, but as natural behaviors of an organism that has outgrown its ecological niche and the systems meant to regulate it.
