my son doesn't legally own his room or have property rights over it but i still consider it his and respect his boundaries.
Your son -- still a "person". Still has rights. But if your son goes off into the world and does something horrible, you have some aspect of both legal (in some jurisdictions) and certainly moral culpability. You don't just get to say "well that's his gun he bought fair and square with his own money, so I wash my hands of it"

With your way of thinking soon you will be HIS human. Thats fine with me, you and everyone can do what you want. I, on the other hand, prefer tha AI to be MY AI. But yeah I get it, different people, different values.
