As for historical Josephus’s moral compass… well, jesus was executed mostly at the behest of the Jews. I’d argue that, between Josephus, the non-Christian Jews, and the Romans, there wasn’t a fully innocent party in the lot.
BUT, Josephus didnt persecute anyone. He had bigotry informed by personal grievance. He didn’t have much impact on the governance of judea except as a historian/cultural advisor, for which his input is invaluable.
