A leap into the unknown must be accompanied by a commitment to or an acceptance of the possibility that there could be something or nothing. If you find something then it’s not a given that the something matches your preconceived ideas of what that something might be. If it does match your preconceived ideas then it would be prudent to be suspicious. Self deception can be sneaky and going all in on what your imagination can create based on the limited ideas you have fostered so far can be tempting. Something rather than nothing is a valid discovery for this type of human journey, but being open to the something not matching your preconceived idea of god is where the hard work starts.
