I believe something near the root of our societal problems today is The Death of God that happened nearly 150 years ago, and the society that was birthed from this patricide.
The sort of unhinged self-hatred that emerges from this murder is one that cannot see itself in the reflection of god, but only his death. All structures and former ways of being must be wiped away, are no longer venerated or respected, because nothing is really capable of that any longer in this society. It is a society of a dark forest where the hollow men reign, and purpose is pointlessness.
It is only through the long private sojourn into the dark of night towards the true existential angst, the questing towards the question of being itself, and what the lostness within this darkness means, that the pinprick of the light meaning could ever be found. But that demands a decision of agency, the desire to know if it is only blackness or something more. The death of god explicitly fills the void of society with this lack of thinking as thinking; the black ink of nothingness to create a meaningless life where such a seeking is pointless within itself.
It is only once we take the leap into the unknown, into the possibility that there could be something, and not nothing, that the possibility of something different, something beyond the nihilism itself becomes a possibility.

The state has taken the place of God. Demonetize the state and God will naturally reclaim the podium.
Let these thoughts rip.
THIS IS THE ERIK THE WORLD NEEDS.

Yes 🙌 so much yes
Nihilism and conceit in place of Love and Faith has ruined countless lives.
The wickedness that resides in people’s subconsciousness today is the reason they fear anarchy: They don’t even trust themselves to do the right thing or much less, know what the right thing is.
Though I know they are too ineffectual to actually have anything to really fear. And I know they are bound by Divine Law that they don’t realize they’re subject to
well said. while many of us wrestle with which god, his/her nature, what preceded god, etc....I've come to the conclusion from experience, that to deny gods existence is to unmoor yourself from accountability for the gift of free will. accepting your small space in his/her/its infinite universe, and accepting the gift of agency, begins the long process of proper aim...to build as god built.

Eric put me on to the book Banality of Evil and the label of perniciousness for fiat.
His writing and talks read and sound like the very last desperate thing he can possibly do before he leads a physical charge.
Much gratitude for him and his thoughts.

Hi erik🤝 Nietzsche diagnosed the disease, but he also hinted at the cure. The Death of God was not just a tragedy; it was a call to create new values, to transcend nihilism rather than be consumed by it. The question is: do we have the courage to seek meaning beyond the void, or will we remain paralyzed by it?
Jesus is the answer....
Dying is the hardest part.
Left side of the bell curve here. Are you saying,
Society no longer having religious values leads to nihilism because faith(believing without evidence) is required to give meaning to life?
When we choose to do something difficult - that we love - that we deeply desire - something that requires all of our attention and dedication and heart - we experience, through the difficulty of the endeavor….the divine.
When we choose the known - the comfortable - the easy path.
There is no need for the divine.
And so we never know it.
Choose the deep challenge.
The one that scares us.
That draws us in.
The one that requires our deepest surrender and faith.
And the divine appears.
A leap into the unknown must be accompanied by a commitment to or an acceptance of the possibility that there could be something or nothing. If you find something then it’s not a given that the something matches your preconceived ideas of what that something might be. If it does match your preconceived ideas then it would be prudent to be suspicious. Self deception can be sneaky and going all in on what your imagination can create based on the limited ideas you have fostered so far can be tempting. Something rather than nothing is a valid discovery for this type of human journey, but being open to the something not matching your preconceived idea of god is where the hard work starts. All the best.
In part, there are a few layers to it
Indeed, in the same passage that he declares the death of god, he also asks us how we can atone for such a sin and what that would mean.
No gods.
No masters.
Surely, if there is a god, it would be easier for them to expose themselves to me than for me to “find” them.
I’m not waiting or searching. I have more promising things to do with my time.
