the thing about hair in general... I guess I understand the need for a certain amount of hair in certain places, but why I need more nose hair and why does it have to be gray!

Its just the aging folicular migration. Folicles get bored of being on head and migrate to nose, ears and eyebrows generally. Thats a technical medical term
