What do you call a country run by lunatics? Canada It may soon be illegal to promot fossil fuels, or engage in climate dissent. "The bill then gets down to its most serious business: punishment. The penalties proposed are fines of up to $1,500,000 and two years in prison for the promotion of fossil fuels. What constitutes “promotion” you may ask? The bill specifies that among the acts to be deemed illegal would be promoting a fossil fuel or its production “in a manner that states or suggests that the fossil fuel, its production or its emissions are less harmful than other fossil fuels, their production or their emissions.” The bill continues that it would also be illegal to suggest that “a fossil fuel or the practices of a producer or of the fossil fuel industry would lead to positive outcomes in relation to the environment, the health of Canadians, reconciliation with Indigenous peoples or the Canadian or global economy.” If you don't know, the NDP is in a coalition government with a minority Liberal Government (Trudeau). They have the swing vote and play an integral role in the policies of Canada.

Not exactly what you’re talking about but I can’t wait for Trudeau to leave. We’ve been dealing with his BS since 2015…too long 🤦🏾‍♂️

My concern is that the opposition party is solely focused on Trudeau, and if the Liberals switch leaders, they may still be able to win the election. Mark Carney, is completely different animal. Or they may make things so untenable that the Cons can't right the ship in 3-4 years, and the Carney Liberals swoop in for another majority for 8-10 years.

I have little faith in suburban Toronto, or the Laurentian corridor. They hold their noses and vote liberal, everytime.

It would be nice of them to just get out of the way. We should be one of the richest and most free countries on the planet.

The Cons are just Liberals that follow a speed limit. They still intend on moving in the same direction. It matters not who wins. "Progressive Conservatives" as the party name makes that pretty clear.
Totally agree with you. In the end they’re all the same. Maybe we get a tax cut though 🤷🏾

Largest deposits of some of the purest uranium on earth. But no, let's not sell stuff that everyone may need that we don't.

Naw, police aren't yet going door to door to "check our thoughts" just yet. This new bill will definitely bring us there 😆

I don’t follow Canadian politics too closely. Would this apply to individuals as well as businesses?

They are much more “centrist”. There are key issues where they differ quite greatly. With that being said, I don’t believe in either party saving Canadians. Only we can do that, by demanding better.

It's a private members bill, so hopefully it won't see the light of day. With that being said, it may be a harbinger of things to come. To have a member of a G7 parliament, of a party that sits at 20% in the polls, and holds the swing vote/power in a minority Government is mind boggling. From the article: "It means it would be illegal for an oil or gas company or employees thereof to say that natural gas emissions are 40 per cent lower than coal and 20 per cent lower than oil (a scientific fact) and therefore we should exploit more natural gas resources. It means that noting the enormous opportunity for economic prosperity that oil and gas offers multiple First Nations communities would be criminalized, even if it were a First Nation itself making the argument. It means stating the fact — I emphasize not opinion, but verifiable fact — that oil and gas contribute billions of dollars to our economy and therefore are a vitally important economic engine that should be exploited could land someone in jail."

Thank you for the thorough explanation. I agree. Very sorry for your countrymen. 🫂
It’s also a split vote to the tsunami that will wash out these commies for another election or few at least.

Lots of things get put into law, even when they don’t make any sense. For example, my grocery store isn’t allowed to provide me with compostable bags, but they are allowed to sell them in the aisle. So, when I forget my reusable bags I have to purchase the bags for 15 cents in the aisle, take them out of the package and then hand them to the person bagging my groceries. Before the law, the grocer could have them at the till and then charge me.
Meanwhile in Vancouver, where nobody but passing boats can see.. the coal is piled high in the open air and coal dust flies all over on the winds to everyone's house. And buncha trains go by with coal, all day and all night. https://i.nostr.build/4K7D.jpg#m=image%2Fjpeg&dim=2040x1536&blurhash=%23WHC%2BkjsayWBkCj%5Dj%5Bj%5Bf6_4j%5Bj%5Bazj%5Dj%40j%40j%3Ff6%3FvfQayj%5Baxf6j%5Bj%40j%5Bx%5Dayj%5Bj%5DaeayfPj%5Bj%5BMxfkj%5BfRf5fPj%5BfRfQMxj%5Bj%5BaekCj%5BjtayfQt7j%5Bj%5BaykCfPfQazf6&x=3a6fb52f3654c280613df9b1a83115510d5ebfaa96d9acd6bc4bd389b78ce3ae

Vancouver, North America’s largest exporter of coal. But natural gas you ask? Never!
