minimalism is a proper artistic and engineering principle of avoiding overcomplicated designs. for art, my personal experience several times over-working a piece of art ruined it. some of the best art is just a few squiggles that carry a message far stronger than a fancy photorealistic painting of the same concept. but such an excuse can be made, especially by developers and business bean counters, for not conforming to community standards of implementations and philosophy. they aren't championing minimalism, they are just saying "wontfix" in less words.

*more words* and i speak from experience. many times had managers, usually in collusion with accounting and marketing, dictate the incomplete implementation of something, and making up fake excuses why it shouldn't be done, even though it should be. let's just say this lack of diligence, and waffling wishy washy prevarication, disgusts me, and those employers didn't get the best of me.
