Agreed, number one commandment is to love God. You have to know Him in order to do this. We show God we love Him by obeying Him.
First commandment: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind".
Second commandment: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself".
