Signal strongly opposes the newest #ChatControl proposal in Europe. Let there be no doubt: we will leave the EU market rather than undermine our privacy guarantees. This proposal--if passed and enforced against us--would require us to make this choice. It's surveillance wine in safety bottles. See more: @Patrick Breyer

EU citizens, a timely reminder that you will be able to vote for your member of Parliament in about a week This problematic law is coming from the Council (the upper house of the EU legislative branch representing the member governments) It can be stopped by either the Parliament (the lower house of the EU legislative branch, representing the people) or the Commission (the EU executive branch, over whose composition the Parliament has some influence) MEPs have power

That is the principled choice.
These Eurocommies are getting out of control in their panic. Stay strong, friends!

Will you deny EU users from your app or just not be available anymore from official stores? (And available on degoogled phones or SailfishOS?)

Make your app censorship resistant at least in the possibility to install in alt-stores like F-Droid and such. Although Session is censorship resistant in the network sense and has an evolved TOR-like routing so it is way ahead in censorship resistance, hopefully they get to a good stable and usable base since it is not very fast or usable currently. Well I hope Signal continues in the EU it's taken years to get just a few of my normie friends to use it, but if you have no choice I get it. Well done, stand up for what is right.
I think it would behoove everyone whoโ€™s concerned about privacy to learn and teach others about side-loading applications like signal in addition to creating and/or adopting an overlay obfuscation technique such as obfs4 to allow end-users to bypass state sponsored censorship.
