I’ve done an initial couple uploads, free from the website and direct from Damus, let me repost your note to see if anyone else has issues.
I'm uploading fine now, but have had 3 or 4 instances of timeouts uploading from Amethyst, and the dashboard just sits there without loading my pictures, on phone and PC even I go there to check. I tried VPN on & off, same result.

It did seem a bit slower but I was uploading large images, will test some more 
You might check your VPN or overall bandwidth connection 
It seems to be ok now, I'm uploading stuff 🤙
