⚡️🇺🇸🇮🇱 NEW - The US is planning for a long-term division of Gaza into a “green zone” under Israeli and international military control and a “red zone” left in ruins, and where nearly the entire population has been displaced, the Guardian reports citing leaked Centcom documents.
The docs describe foreign troops deploying alongside Israel east of the Israeli-controlled “yellow line,” with reconstruction limited to the green zone. Washington hopes to secure a UN mandate for a 20,000-strong International Stabilization Force, but European governments are unwilling to send large deployments, and only Italy has expressed interest so far.
The plan envisions foreign soldiers manning crossings “after integrating” with Israeli forces, as Israel would only “consider conditions” for withdrawal much later.
Reconstruction is viewed as a tool to lure Palestinians into the green zone, with over 80% of Gaza’s buildings destroyed, aid still restricted, and more than 2 million Palestinians still crowded into the devastated red zone with little path to genuine Palestinian self-rule.
