That's pretty much it, but you lose (for a moment) spam filters and delivery reliability.
The biggest hurdle in the way of ditching email is web accounts. Almost all require an email address. Proton is a good middle ground. Easy, cheap, and much more trustworthy than Google's system.

Would take a bridge between a local Nostr node and an email server so all of the emails would show up as notes. I think this would be cool.

I feel the same way. SimpleX would be the way to go, but almost nobody has it.
I could get by with Signal now that they’ve implemented usernames

What if… there was an open source email relay/server that could handle incoming emails and route them to an email client, but could also function as an lnurl payment receiver and nostr identifier. This gives you a nice single player mode that can scale to multi player mode over time. Killing email won’t happen all at once so we need something in between.
