Instead of moving away from gmail (another service, making your own mail server, etc), is there a way to move out of email altogether?

Onboard every person on earth to nostr 🤔
Fax.
That's pretty much it, but you lose (for a moment) spam filters and delivery reliability.
Try out Yggmail
SimpleX

You could also use Keet as a way to broadcast your newsletter instead of using email lists.
The biggest hurdle in the way of ditching email is web accounts. Almost all require an email address.
Proton is a good middle ground. Easy, cheap, and much more trustworthy than Google's system.
secure E2E voice/video calls with better calendaring is a thought
Would take a bridge between a local Nostr node and an email server so all of the emails would show up as notes. I think this would be cool.
I feel the same way. SimpleX would be the way to go, but almost nobody has it.
I could get by with Signal now that they’ve implemented usernames
What if… there was an open source email relay/server that could handle incoming emails and route them to an email client, but could also function as an lnurl payment receiver and nostr identifier. This gives you a nice single player mode that can scale to multi player mode over time. Killing email won’t happen all at once so we need something in between.
that would be amazing 😍
Probably not. Outside of pushing more companies/people to nostr. Which will move the needle a small %.
Carrier pigeons
