This is actually the best outcome. While it seems Apple is cowering to authorities, they’re actually ceding power to the people. All it takes is citizens holding their government accountable for their draconian policies and Apple can revert to the ethical norm. Expecting Apple to unshackle the people from the overreach of the government is absurd if the people aren’t willing to stand up for their own privacy.
