Any laws or taxes specifically targeting a specific religious or ethnic group would be illegal in the United States of America. I'm not aware of any. Laws and taxes targeting people by economic status are both legal and broadly accepted.
The idea that laws targeting people by economic status is the same as targeting protected classes of race, religion, etc. is just political doublespeak meant to deceive and make any topic devolve into an identity politics drama.
The irony is that whomever is making that argument wants you to accept their biased assumption of said protected group being unusually correlated with the non-protected economic/occupational class.
