Satoshi coins will never be moved. A lot of early bitcoiners re-used addresses and kept large amounts in single UTXOs because it wasn’t worth much at the time. Imagine having a few 100 BTC Casascius coins in a safe for 14 years, what would most people do with them? Probably just HODL until they were ready to cash them into fiat.

Known Satoshi coin will probably never move… Trust I know a lot of early miners reused addys even though they knew it was a bad idea… That’s why I didn’t do that more do I suggest too… Do I need to imagine what it’s like to have a couple hundred btc in cold storage?.?.? Maybe I should have bought the good bars when they were available… naw I always thought they were cool but never thought they were worth it imho…

It’s been on my mind because of this story the other day. Someone sat on 2000 BTC for all this time without ever moving them to a hardware wallet or multisig. There was also a mention of someone who had a moment of panic when they couldn’t find a way to sweep a 100 BTC coin using a modern wallet. https://www.coindesk.com/business/2025/12/06/two-casascius-coins-holding-2k-btc-moved-after-13-years-of-inactivity
