I don’t have a technical background so this might not make sense, but had a thought:
Lightning Network seems to have issues being clunky and hard to run nodes personally etc.
What if the geography was centralized around a localized custodial network
Example: A hotel-resort opens in El Salvador and runs a LN node to facilitate transactions within the resort. Almost like a room key. When you check out you send it back to your regular wallet.

Normies will use custodial bitcoin banks like Fedi.xyz
For hardcore nerds: Running a self sovereign node requires an on chain fee and Lightning channel management which can be too much information for mass market
This would work but when you send it back you still need to have your own lightning or layer 1 wallet to get the funds, but a custodial wallet that can handle these payments would probably be ideal
