All that work, when you could've just installed #GrapheneOS.
And iOS is already doing this as well. DeGoogled Android is the only way to go.

Could you please point me in the direction of some instructions for doing this for a relatively non technical individual. Also any other tips (device, alternative OS, etc.) would be greatly appreciated.

Samsung galaxy would be willing to switch though this phone getting older and beat up
