It's been two years since the twenty-weeks-of-friends-coming-over that was Pandemic Legacy. Now the second edition of Gloomhaven has arrived, and we are planning another epic:
If you haven't played this kind of thing before: the game is a progressive cooperative affair, designed to be played in two(?) hour long sessions. Obviously there are weeks you miss, but the overall experience is a season or two of regular game play. There are highs and lows as things twist and turn, and I always feel the discomfort of doing something complex and unfamiliar, but overall it's about shared experience.
Must get the script BIP drafts published *before* we start this!

The Pandemic Legacy seasons were all amazing. Gloomhaven was a bit too much for me, though my son really wanted to keep playing it.
Haven’t played these (yet), but highly recommend Risk Legacy as well.
I only play cooperative games! Unfortunately in board games, unlike real life, they're rare...
i miss my dnd group from high school 🥲 so rare to find people to play with
My son and I have now watched over two hours of How to Play tutorials, and are digesting the (58-page!) rulebook and the first 6 character card sets.
It's a very slow start (it took three of us almost 2 hours simply to unbox and set up!) but I'm hoping the investment is worth it...
Yep, sounds about right. The battles and leveling up are the best parts. The setting up for each level is what I found to be a bit much. I'm sure it gets faster the more you do it, though.
Did the first 2 rounds yesterday 😃 thanks for the recommendation!

Once I wanted to buy a game about bitcoins, so I sent the money and that was the end of it… 😂

Nice!
Yeah it starts out as fairly standard Risk, but it gets increasingly interesting as you progress :)
