I do not even believe they are really counting votes anymore. It just cannot be that in any democracy the results are always around 50%. In no society people are divided 50 50 on key points of view. Culture, religion define a common vision and if people want to say it's about social positions then it will be 90 10. So it is all fake. That 50 50 is kept because you can change few % when you want and it would not be suspicious. We are all totally under a big oligarchy and always have been.

I think that’s a fair assessment. But remember we’re usually only given two choices to vote for which is another possible explanation why things looks so evenly divided. Of course there’s a libertarian who occasionally takes a few percent while likely deserving more attention, but is shut out by the political machine
