People don’t just use an app like TikTok because they just “love” its slick UX.
These apps are highly addictive and as centralized platforms designed that way. Open source freedom tech can’t (and shouldn’t) compete in this regard because fundamentally users have a choice.
It’s very much an uphill battle, but an open source app with great UX (and make no mistake it should have great UX) is still up against a closed source app with great UX also designed to manipulate its users to never leave the platform by way of data harvesting and serving up addictive content.
