Thank you 🫂 A Flocky Sequence Based on MIDI notes with mistake-like behavior and a subtle amount of randomness, sent to the Peak from my own sequencer — Hachijo Linear Sequencer. The Peak goes into a Roland Chorus Echo (tape delay), then into a Marantz, recording and playing at slow speed at the same time. A pair of Oktava mics capture the sound from the Marantz loudspeaker, along with my collection of artificial and real birds. The whole mix happens in one room, recorded onto reel-to-reel tape and digitized simultaneously. The tape never touches the erase head, so it keeps a previous layer of generative upright piano sounds I recorded in an abandoned hotel on Hachijo Island in Japan. Everything blends together and is captured on a Zoom F6. I adjust things like spring reverb and tape-delay feedback in real time.
