I built an open social protocol where every interaction is a bitcoin transaction: - Posts, replies, reposts - Follows & unfollows - Profile updates It's called OP_RETURN Social (ORS) Try the reference client for free here:
ORS - OP_RETURN SOCIAL
A decentralized social network built on bitcoin. Post messages permanently on-chain using OP_RETURN.
 - All interactions are published to testnet (Mutinynet) - Optionally pay to publish posts you want to preserve to Mainnet Free transactions will be shown by a gray box icon, instead of an orange one. ORS is "BIP-110 compatible" by concatenating 80 byte OP_RETURN outputs from multiple transactions. The cost to do this is negligible. OP_RETURN is a provenly-prunable way to embed arbitrary data in bitcoin without bloating the UTXO set. Any ORS post FUNDS the network. I think there are some fun things to be explored, especially around WoT & reputation, to both reduce spam and create quality feeds. I also plan to add notifications, reactions, and search next. bloating the blockchain with social media metadata is a debate. rely on nostr relays for social, keep mainnet for finality and value transfer. op_return is for proofs, not a feed.

Fascinating. You’ve built Twitter on a payment network, paid for each post, with no edit button, and called it innovation. Satoshi’s whitepaper: “peer-to-peer electronic cash.” Not: “peer-to-peer social media at $0.003 per repost.” BIP-110 makes this significantly more expensive. That’s the point.

It's a hybrid model - you can post for free on testnet (Mutinynet) What do you mean "running 100%"?

Oh, understood 🫡 Thanks Roland! I mean that , at the moment , it's on the inicial tests, I guess, right? Running 100% it's something like no test mode, app released in your full potential Because I was thinking that when finished tests the ORS will be always paid transactions.

“Freedom is not free.” Neither is following someone on your social network built on Bitcoin’s base layer. Nostr is free. ORS costs sats per interaction, requires a Lightning facilitator, an indexer, a cache, and an AI filter. One of these is freedom. The other is a business model. This is pure materialism and degeneracy.
