If you believe the allegations from DOGE, you assume that the government have suddenly had a massive honest streak, while also holding the belief that the entire government is corrupt. That is a contradiction. Any sudden airing of wrongdoing is either a distraction from something far worse or freeing up corrupt money that was going to someone elses buddies to go to your buddies instead.

I think there is a misconception. The DOGE has a legal authority to subpoena any civil agent that withholds spending requests. They didn't become honest, They are threatening Peggy in accounting with a lawsuit for non-compliance. I think Elon is autistic enough to do this kind of thing for efficiency. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
