I am as opposed to religiously motivated violence as anyone. The solution is not divisiveness. The solution is to rehabilitate the existing bridges of understanding that allow people of different faith traditions to speak one another’s spiritual language. You speak of verification as opposed to trust. Walk the walk. Go learn what each religious tradition is about. Look for patterns. I’ll give you the biggest, most important pattern right now: they all have an articulation of the Golden Rule. Note, divisiveness is antithetical to the Golden Rule. Why do all religions have this rule? Because it’s important and because humans suck at it. If we didn’t suck at it, it would be redundant for every tradition to be attempting to teach it to us.
