So at this stage, amethyst has made the request to the NWC wallet to pay but has not heard back. How are you connecting the wallet? Via the + button? Or by clicking in the paste button?

Interesting, are you using Tor? You can try disabling it for the NWC relays by turning off the Money Operations in the privacy settings, in the left menu. It could be that their relays don't accept Tor.

The only way I found to "leave" a group using only Amethyst was by blocking users.
Is this is group of users or is it a public chat? If it is a public chat you can click in the top nav bar of the chat itself and then hit leave.

The issue is that you can't remove yourself from private groups. It's like people including your email on a thread, you can't really remove it. But we could code a hide group feature.
A good solution would be to "delete" the group, archiving or hiding it completely until someone sends a second invitation - if that's possible.
We can call it delete, but your phone will still be receiving these DMs. The phone would just hide them. There is no way to block people from messaging you on the current NIP 17.
WhatsApp has a feature to hide conversations (and groups, I think) with a password. SimpleX It allows you to hide profiles via password, which is somewhat similar.

Sure, as long as the phone is still receiving it, we can do this on the client. It needs to be a password though because otherwise anyone that opens the app (which has access to your keys) can unhide those messages.
I understand. But wouldn't that help prevent people from adding you to groups you don't want to be added to? Like "Private group spam"?
Anyone will always be able to add you to groups. It's similar to anyone will always be able to send you a notification. If they can't spam you via DM, they will spam you via notifications. There is no way to block people from citing your key. But we can hide them.

A slightly off-topic question about groups: do you know why Amethyst, 0xchat, and KeyChat allow you to see the same messages on your profile, but WhiteNoise doesn't?
In Amethyst, I can receive messages and see them on those other clients, but not on WhiteNoise. Do you know why that is?

Keychat now receives and replies to Nostr DMs by default. You can turn Nostr DM off in Chat Settings if you prefer.
Some wallets don't support zap over tor. Wallet of Satoshi is one that doesn't support it
