We need a geohash-based alternative to using Google Maps for everything
Share locations something like geohash:#dqcjse and then you can configure your device to use whichever map app you prefer
Is there a NIP for this?

Not sure about Nostr based, but the data that nym pulls and links to is from openstreetmap.org
I know. And I love openstreetmaps!
I was (incoherently π) making a different point
Today, I was with some friends and we were sharing locations with each other as Google URLs. And your note reminded me that I've often thought that we need a vendor-independent way to link to locations
(I'll edit my post a little to clarify)
Thatβd be cool. So where you could also get directions to the geohash location?
Yes. By default, I guess most people would configure their app to use Google Maps to open the location and to plan a route to that location.
But, with an open specification of how to specify locations, we could gradually transition away from Google Maps (and Apple Maps or whatever else is used)
