Thanks. Just curious, for Bitcoin nodes, do you get the data from bitnodes.io or do you run you own process?
Do #Bitcoin nodes behind #tor count?
Bullish.

Yikes!
This is a wonderful insight into the back-end of “crypto”
Big moment when you realise what decentralised actually looks like
Takes some time for people to get to that point though
They're still addressable and reachable so why wouldn't it?
Low IQ pleb here...
Give us the Monero nodes...
Looks like up 92% to 3,750 though the only tracker admits that it's not trying to find all the nodes, so accuracy is unreliable.
It's so weird that there are so few bitcoin nodes. Are we really this early?
Thank you. The data for Monero node count seems to be inconsistent between different trackers.
I'm shocked at how low the number of btc noderunnners is...
especially when the technical barrier to entry has dropped so low
Are you one of them?

Signals.
If your project has a CEO it has one node.
I run 6 Bitcoin nodes. 😇
I run one intermittent Bitcoin node in the middle of nowhere with cellular service that can barely support text services. Took the better part of three months to sync.
Sounds like a job for Starlink!
It’s been considered. There’s some sadistic joy in the current method though.
Fired up my first Bitcoin full node this year and it felt goood!

As did mine 🥲
It’s also horrendously expensive to set up
Note: Reachable.
Most nodes are likely private and on the tor network.
As an example, look at lightning:

You could also look into Blockstream Satellite if you want to nerd out. Just a one time setup cost of a couple hundred dollars IIRC.
I’ll take a look. 🤙🏻
Just my luck. Base stations sold out. 😂
I’ll keep an eye out. This might actually be a viable route for me.
I thought reachable meant that theyre actually communicating with other nodes, not that they're clearnet. @Jameson Lopp can you clarify?
Bitnodes.io lines up with OP. The majority of nodes (~10k) are on tor, but the total is ~16k

I did but they have been sold out for a while now unfortunately. One day I’ll find a solution to shit internet
That's fair.
In that case, I too wonder what the meaning of reachable is here.
Nodes that only accept connectivity via inbound requests, nodes that also initiate and establish TCP handshakes themselves or nodes that consistently remain online over a period of time.
Gotta pump those numbers UP (I'm 2 of 16837)
Should we thank Casey?
Are Tor only nodes considered reachable?
True. It doesn't take too much time to get a node up and running with #Umbrel or #Start9
hey man know of anyone having issues starting electr and cpu heating up over 90c degrees?
No, but you might wanna ask the @start9 community
