I also replied this on X to you: Mike, you can move to Malta and apply for a Maltese residence card, which is valid for 5 years and can then be extended for another 5 years. You only need to show that you are financially independent and have no debts. You can keep your UK passport, and you won't have to pay taxes anymore—at least, that was the case for me.
