For me it was reading the Bitcoin standard. It just planted this idea in my head that I couldn't shake off. It was when I started stacking. Then that podcast episode with Harris Irfan and Saifedean talking about Islamic Banking and then I was like "we gotta get Muslims on Bitcoin"
