(By which I mean they are capable of ingesting a lot of content then they can spit out a basically infinite number of sentences that are grammatically very correct but empty of content.)

LLMs are what you get when journalism became an industrial process optimized for scale and uniformity. Maybe the real question is whether uncensorable, pseudonymous networks let us fork back to a pre institutional model, where “journalist” just meant someone who wrote down what they saw and their npub was their only credential.
