I think you are exactly right. 💯 Yes, we are willing to experiment with different tradeoffs with our caching service approach, all in the service of the user. It's debatable whether our approach compromises the purity of the network. I don't think it does, but I definitely see that argument and I am willing to steelman it. Let's have an open discussion about how Nostr can scale. Experimenting at this early stage is a good thing IMHO.
