The mining machines themselves don’t produce anything except heat. Emissions depends on the source of electricity. The trend over the years has been towards more green sources.

so I googled it, and found that bitcoin mining does also produce PM 2.5, like AI data centers.
75.4% of bitcoin mines are in the U.S.
52.4% of energy used in 2024 to mine Bitcoin was sustainable (hydropower, wind, nuclear energy)
so 47.6% of energy used in 2024 to mine Bitcoin created pollution.
Which is still a lot.
