Over the air updates for vehicles is absolutely stupid.
How many fucking companies have we seen fail to protect static data like email addresses? And you want your vehicle connected to the fucking internet?
I'll pass.

There are a couple of amazing security researchers who have found multiple ways to completely take over connected cars. It’s quite concerning
I didn't mention privacy. I was referring to security. And I have no issue with necessary updates. I have issues with over the air updates. If they can access the car over the air, someone else can too if they fuck up security. Given how few companies can even protect static data, I'll pass.
It's not even surprising. I also have issues with the direction certain medical devices are taking.
Local updates aren't absolutely safe, but I think they're a lot less likely to cause problems. Especially since OTA incentivizes companies to just blast shit out. The old way was a lot more expensive to fuck up so they tended to make sure things worked very well before releasing them.
Oh dude, if it’s anywhere near as bad as most hospitals run their networks, it’s an unmitigated disaster
Funny enough, I frequently log in to computers using my badge, open the medical record software only to find that I'm logged into some other random provider's account. Super secure lol
