Would somebody please explicity spell out the absolute worst thing about the Jeffrey Epstein files' connection to bitcoin? Please make sure you flag the sensitive content, because the way some of you are talking it sounds particularly DAMNING for Core/Blockstream et all.

The left hand side of the bell curve would suggest that he's still alive and he actually is the creator, of Bitcoin.

What if it is going down because they must sell having lost other income.
Aside from all the obvious human and sex trafficking filth and horrificness, I think the part to me that is the worst for Bitcoin itself is how susceptible the core team really was to the normal, typical, usual money and power tactics. It was so vulnerable and had the interest of people who were obviously world class master manipulators and power hungry individuals like Epstein and his colleagues. The link and connection alone makes me fear that somebody was taken advantage of or manipulated in such a way to create a back door or some sort of disingenuous code that just hasn't been found or spotted yet. The trust in the separation of human error from Bitcoin had been tarnished in my mind.

My catchphrase, as everybody, is; Fuck. The. System.
There isn't a smoking gun but that's not really how corruption generally works. Most capture and corruption is never explicit at all. Bitcoin maintainers seeking capital for a designer baby farming from a pedo is not a great look. We need to think about what kinds of standards we have around the character and judgement of people with a lot of influence over the direction of critical software.
To be fair, Epstein's nefarious dealings were barely on anyone's radar in 2014. His extremely lenient sentencing in 2009 and his sprawling active social network indicate that, if anyone was seeking funding from him, it very likely wasn't with the full awareness (such as we have today, in retrospect) of what sort of awful shit he was up to. Bryan Bishop seeking g funding from ANYONE for designer babies should reflect poorly on himself, and I don't see why that implicates the other core and core-adjacent people mentioned in the emails.

There was a British agent, who operated in Northern Ireland (I don't know if you know much about "The Troubles") The agent, was a high ranking official in The IRA; he was, in fact, a part of their internal security unit, charged, with stuffing out, spies, when he was, in fact, one himself. He harboured many secrets, both IRA secrets, and that of The British State, he seen out his days, largely in secret but with British State protection. Both sides, had reason to have him dead, more so, The British State, because if he was murdered or "Suicided", he almost certainly would have had a "Kill Switch", to reveal prior heald secrets/knowledge. There are "Rumours" that Epstein might still be alive; I'm not so sure. Food for thought, though. He clearly had sway, over both sides!
I agree but corruption is always going to operate in a cloud of plausible deniability. I don't like to see people rubbing elbows with this guy. I watched the Bannon interview with him. If your baby-eating-dracula radar doesnt go off around a person like that, something is wrong. I'm less concerned with shooting at individual reputations than I am that we put on our cultural armor going forward. Let's put both the maintainers and the entrepreneurs on notice. We are the guardians of the network and we are not going to tolerate even the appearance of corruption.
