No incentive? That's why Mara did it. To appease the U.S. government every large pool is KYC/AML. Censoring transactions from "rogue states" like Iran and Russia are next. That's if they stick around rather than switch to becoming AI data centers. Off topic: It's nice being able to have a back and forth on nostr. I feel like any kind of engagement is tough here. ๐
Miners work under the profit motive, they don't have to be bad or have bad intentions.
Just apathy and greed is enough.
Node runners don't get paid, they're volunteers that actually maintain the chain.
Node runners don't want to host csam, miners just care about getting paid.

So your assumption is the spam makes the financial transactions too expensive and not the other way around. You don't understand data storage then.
