Ah, consensus, now you have hit on something far more interesting to discuss.
I think this new topic is certainly worth switching to (because the old topic is a tired trope at this point). Now to the question: should bitcoin have uses “off script,” so to speak? This is very hard to reason about because you have to account for these uses providing profit motive to miners to reorg instead of extend the chain. While at the same time — seemingly paradoxically — these external uses provide value to transactions and may someday make bitcoin and bitcoin transaction space very valuable.
