I can't count the number of software projects I've sunk dozens, even hundreds of hours into, all for no-one to see the results. Every hour working on something had a positive effect of my knowledge and self-confidence that I can actually bring my thoughts to life. Definitely "get back on the horse" and don't lament sunk costs.
