It vowed to stop Moraes and other Lula allies through the imposition of sanctions, but then just crawled away. Some high up in the WH and State are still pushing Treasury to enforce these sanctions against Brazilian banks and even US tech firms, but this is the first time a country simply told the US it would ignore sanctions -- and even threatened banks and companies inside its borders with punishments if they abided by US sanctions -- and got away with it completely. Brazil just created a model for countries to ignore US sanctions by proving that the US won't back up their vows.
