If Diddy is found guilty it will serve as another example that those in positions of power can abuse. Diddy is a business man, he’s a media mogul and actually invested in X (I don’t blame Elon or X for that but it’s the truth.)
In cases like Epstein the media and the intelligence agencies worked to keep the story quiet. Weinstein, Larry Nassar, members of the royal family, politicians, law enforcement etc, abusers come in all shapes and sizes. In some cases they are extremely powerful people.
This week a CIA officer who drugged, sexually abused multiple women got a 30 year sentence.
Survivors used to have to pray that a journalist would cover their story to be heard if law enforcement wouldn’t take them seriously and to an extent social media and new media changed that but there was one big problem, if they published their story online it wasn’t censorship resistant. The powerful still had the upper hand.
Nostr empowers the individual and has the potential to serve some of the world’s most vulnerable. Nostr evens the playfield. 💜

Anybody can invest in X. Nostr is relentless in its trashing of X. Literally anybody can buy shares any company’ shares.
Organizations and governments will talk trash on freedom tech. They focus heavily on how it will be misused. I see that but I also see the bright side. I hope that looking at it through this lens brings you as much hope as it brings to me.

I do agree but journalists don't necessarily have to build a following on nostr, just use it as a data storage layer to cross post the notes to other platforms. It's not ideal but as long as you run your own relay it might offer long term protection of content while the UX and relay decentralisation issues are engineered out.
i think journalists would rather be busy writing their stories than figuring out nostr technical stuff, thats where X wins; login and post

Elon is insanely wealthy and powerful. Even regular folks knew about Diddy since the 90’s people have been saying this stuff about Diddy for a long time. I’ll admit it’s not as egregious as Trump with the Epstein stuff. There’s definitely not that kind of proof Elon was that close with Diddy.
The courts will decide all of this but frankly that wasn’t the point of the original note.
The point of the note was that survivors can speak on nostr without anyone in a position of power having control over their content.
20 years ago it was tough for journalists to figure out how to host and publish a blog and figure out RSS feeds, etc., but the ones that did benefitted.

My point was, X is a private company and investors had to be approved by X (Elon).

Anyone can't invest in X, it's a private company. Only the shareholders decide who can invest in it.
