Why would he be held hostage if he’s an American citizen? He can always reach out to an American embassy and say that he’s in danger.

Fair point but I still think Keiser has enough followers to get the help he needs. Just sending a tweet would be enough to get media pumped up. El Salvador doesn’t have the same immunity that Ukraine has with the media. I’m sure they’d love to jump on an opportunity to criticize bukele.
