btcd is so shit as an alternative it never happens anyone uses them except bundled with lnd. it would only take me a few weeks to make it into a bitcoin core style server/gui modes and expose the wallet and put all the coin control and stuff. nowadays, i mean literally weaks

gonna make #ORLY into a fully blown WoT query engine first, but yeah, it's on my bucket list. first i gotta get the GUI library cleaned up and modernized, then ... well, i know how i did it before, merged btcd and btcwallet together and crafted a mining controller and wallet GUI with miner interface. don't need the mining shit, but i bet i can make one that is nicer and more featureful. and with proper coin control, fully user friendly controls and ALL FUCKING CONTROL ON THE MEMPOOL. and it will be fast as hell, i'll replicate the IBD optimization that core uses so it can sync up in under 24 hours. would help if i could get paid to do it but i'll probably just do it anyway, and then do what i can to get everyone using it, bugfix it to the bejesus and change my name and move into a mountain cave and meditate until the solar flash.

It’s an open source project it can be forked in minutes but since the core node software works for most people we have seen very few versions. The panic about core 30 is clearly designed to drive business to Luke jr. relay policy defaults are just about the least important aspect of bitcoin.
